
Bhartiya Bhasha Summer Camp - Day 2
The second day of the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp, held on June 10, 2025, at DIET Gyalshing, was a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity. The event's theme, "Cultural Fashion Show and Traditional Dance," was hosted by Pratima Lepcha, who ensured a seamless and energetic program.
Lecturer Mrs. Seema Devi Tamang warmly welcomed the participants and presented a brief overview of the day's agenda. She emphasized the importance of preserving and showcasing the region's diverse cultural heritage through language, dress, and dance.
A colorful fashion show followed, featuring traditional attire from 10 communities:
- Lepcha
- Bhutia
- Nepali
- Limboo
- Sherpa
- Newar
- Manger
- Rai
- Tamang
- Gurung
Each group proudly displayed their traditional dress, reflecting their unique identity, customs, and way of life. The audience appreciated the authenticity and elegance of the presentation.
Lecturer Mrs. Babita Pradhan shared her experience and feedback, expressing admiration for the effort and enthusiasm shown by all participants. She encouraged everyone to continue embracing and promoting their indigenous traditions.
Traditional Dance Competition
Following a short refreshment break, the traditional dance competition began. Participants from 7 communities performed:
- Rai
- Newar
- Lepcha
- Bhutia
- Sherpa
- Tamang
- Gurung
Each dance depicted the cultural richness and traditional values of its respective community. The vibrant costumes, rhythmic beats, and expressive movements captivated the audience.
